OH FOR THE LOVE OF PAPA

My girls LOVE their grandpa (Papa is what we call him around here.) From first thing in the morning they go looking around for their "papa" and are usually pretty upset when he's sleeping after working the overnight, or already at work for a daylight shift. It has been a really neat blessing living with him and seeing the relationships develop...at any rate...tonight we had a Christmas Party for the Day Care I worked for and when it was over we were desperately trying to convince Bekah that she really did want to go home by enticing her with all the things she loves at home. We were putting her in the car and I said "We need to go home and find Dudders" (the dog) and she said "YAY go home find papa." I replied "Oh, baby he's at work already, we'll have to see him tomorrow." She without missing beat replied..."OH CRAP!" We laughed soooo hard and for sooooo long. As a disclaimer, she doesn't often say crap, she says shucks more, however, sometimes, as with disappointmets like this one, she pulls out the big words...She probably learned them from me. This brings me to an equally funny papa story but I am so long winded in my lack of story telling abilities and it's one am so I'll save that one for another day.

Head Injuries

I am learning that babies bounce pretty effectively...they are rough and tumble and often pick right on up and keep going...most of the time.
Tuesday I was shopping at Michaels for stuff to make our Christmas cards this year. Madi was in the front of the cart where children belong and Bekah was in the back where children do not belong. I know this because as soon as I put her there a sales associate informed me of this. So, I told the sales associate that we weren't going to be there long and it was better than the damage she would do to the store and that Bekah would be perfectly fine, "we do this all the time," I told her...soooooooooooo...twenty minutes later...Bekah fell out of the cart. Onto her head. She did not bounce, or pick up and keep going or do anything at all really. Mostly she laid there very still and then started SCREAMING...she had huge bruise instantly. We packed up and left and came straight home and to the ER where we found she was not broken only concussed. We are very blessed that it was not worse. She is doing just fine and loved being able to eat popsicles and watch Dumbo all night that night since she was on a clear liquid diet and low levels of stimulation. All in all it ended up ok, but it was not one of those days I'd ever ever like to re-live! Now she tells everyone about "Bekah bumped her head all better!" She'll live!
